Hi

Living in Cape Town with a 1990 BMW K1.

Started the process to restore it to its original colour scheme.

Hey Len!

Welcome here, indeed a nice bike the K1.
You will find some K1 riders here.

Good classic, worthwhile restoring.

Cheers from Germany

WelKome to the forum Len. I've never been a big fan of thr blue or red colour schemes on the K1s, reckon it looks tops like it is.

It has been a tough decision, I grew very fond of the understated K1 looks and have changed my mind at least five times.

My local carwash have managed to drop my bike and then caused more damaged picking it up. Got to repaint all but two of the panels, so decided to take the plunge.

Also had the red and yellow on my wall as a kid, so got to go with it!

Hi Len,

How long have you owned that beauty and what sort of mileage have you put on her?

Welcome from WA

Welcome from WA

I have had her for just over a year now. Just gone through five 7s (77 777), I added about 5000km of them.

She shares a garage with two early 1980s airheads, but has become my favorite for fast early morning rides through our mountain passes. Luckily my legs are short, so day long rides are fine.
