high should i have a slight hesitation during tick over like one cylinder was not quite firing every so often. . or should it be constantly smooth . .

Depends on the revs at tick over if you are idling at below 900 it may seem a bit lumpy, a check would be to see with neon spark plug testers if the miss corresponds with a missed flash. Does the bike ever miss when it is running at constant revs on the road?

Only on tick over ..probably normal im thinking ,runs smooth enough through the rest of the rev range thanks k.

I've been thru a few different motors lol and none of them idle perfectly smoothly,there always seem to be the odd hiccup.

The fuelling is very lean at tickover on most K's...although I have seen variations with different FI controllers and airflow meters.

Try adjusting the idle air bypass screw on the airflow meter.Turning in will richen the mixture a touch,which should help smooth the idle.

K's are set at stoichiometric air fuel ratio.. at idle 14.7:1....If I were tuning a carburettor bike I would set it as rich as the bike wanted.My (hinkley)bonneville is 12:1 at idle,

Nice one i will give it a go . . was also wondering maybe uleaded has an affect on it , mines a lead head unleaded being a lower octain . . ive got addative in it . . may be it doesnt make any difference in the lower rev range . .

Mine never last long enough to worry about lead replacement additives.Whoops!

However,I'm never going to run on shell Vpower again and I am going to look at additives,preferably ones with lubricating qualities.

When we first got unleaded petrols there was definitely a difference at tickover,I always found my bikes idled at higher rpm on unleaded than good 'ol 4star.
