On the page in the link below is a 12 minute ride on a Police bike form
Delft to Rotterdam (in The Netherlands)
They clear the road for an Ambulance.

Although the police is not always my best friend Very Happy i think this is an amazing ride
Also it some points it shows how some car drivers react on the flashing blue in
their rearview mirror.

My dad was from Delft and I was born in Den Haag.....sure as anything we never went that quick on the bike.
The drivers seemed to be far more observant than ours here.....

I've been told that this example has not that many people
freezing up.
But as you can see especially on the Highway part, a lot of
people brake first and then move to the right.
Apparently this is known as " the speed trap reaction"

We have so many (mobile)speedtraps, that when people see a blue light, their 1st reaction is " i must be speeding; BREAK")
Shocked

Great riding and some good roads! They looked to be hitting some big speeds at times for sure.
Thanks for posting

It is a whistle, the Plod in London use same technique, I think it may be an alert for cyclists, London traffic is heavy at best but these boys go through it quite easily. use of a motor bike in the line of work 22936

That was mesmerising to watch Amster.
In '87 we had a Vincent international rally in Holland and the police escorted our convoy of about a hundred bikes from our base to the police motorcycle training school, where they put on a display for us. Their impressive synchronised riding kept us all together during the run and we hardly dropped below 40mph, through red lights and all.
At their display there was a rider on a boxer BMW riding in tight circles with the rocker cover scraping the ground! fantastic.

An event I'll never forget and this video brought back many memories. Thanks for posting.

Paul.

I agree with all the above. Awesome.
Would not work in Sydney. People hear a siren and wonder what they should do.
And then you get the conga line behind the emergency vehicle of people trying to get a free run through the traffic.

Actually I tell a lie. I have seen that in Sydney. Just near my work.
I was walking to the shops at a major cross road. Harley comes screaming up and stops in front of the cars sitting at a red light on his left.
Second harley does the same on the other side of the road.
Lights go green and no cars move due to the bikes in their path.
3rd harley keeps a path open through the now red light and a funeral car goes through the red light followed by 100 harleys.

Shame the emergency services cannot command that level of, respect is the wrong word and we don't want to fear them. Hmmm. Common sense?

They use a whistle to communicate with people in the cars.
The whistle is to atract their attention and then the police officer will give them handsignals and directions.
This a better way instead of yelling at a car.

After leaving a church from one of our services recently, we were joined by a heavily tattoed harley rider and his lady.
What followed was shear stupidity.
He proceeded without any prior recognition to escort our vehicle to the local crematorium, 40mins in average to heavy traffic.
Each time we approached a roundabouty thing, with us continuing in the left ( slow) lane, he would surge ahead, change into the right (fast) lane, and as soon as he was overlapping the circling lanes he would abruptly stop,
of course , dressed in nothing but black non impact resistant material on a black non hi-viz harley, with lady dressed in tank top and high heels, he would give a burst of throttle for attention,
'quote the mason" " The whistle is to atract their attention and then the police officer will give them handsignals and directions".
and she would outstretch her arm , in a stop , or I'll mess you up pose, at the fast approaching traffic,
which were at the time probably focused on where they were headed, which was different to where the bike was.
and with all of this happening I was judging whether to commit myself( hearse )and family members ( travelling directly behind us in a 57 seat school bus)into the roundabout.
It was such an adrenalin rush ,
we witnessed 3 near fatalities that trip.
there is no moral to this yarn , just wanted to share it.

had a car accident some years ago and broke L1 and L2...just a little bit , but anyway as I was waking from my midday unexpected nap what was in my line of sight as my focus returned?........a big black frosted windowed hearse....I near died right there until i noticed it was jacked up in the back with huge wide tyres and a monster big block with 671 blower....I thanked them for there generous offer of a lift to the hospital as the police and ambulance pulled up....yep never forget that....Yass March 1978..as I remember it below...
