I recently ordered parts (gaskets, coolant overflow hose, thermostatic valve and temp sensor) in anticipation of changing the coolant and refreshing the rubber bits. When I ordered the part, I specified the make and model of my bike (1991 K75RT-P). Upon receiving the parts, everything seem as I expected however it was clear that the temp sensor was different. See attached pic below. Item A is the temp sensor from the bike, Item B is the temp sensor I was sent. Can anyone help me with the correct part number to replace item A. Thanks

Sensor A is the one for the temperature gauge. Sensor B is the one that tells the brain what temperature the engine is at, and also controls the fan. This is located in the vertical pipe at the back of the radiator.

Thanks. I asked for a temp sensor and didn't realize there were two sensors. I guess I will order the temp gauge sensor now.

One more question. There was no crush washer on the temp gauge sensor when removed to drain the coolant. I reinstalled and replaced the coolant but there is a nagging doubt that there should be a crush washer. Thoughts?

No crush washer, the temp gauge sensor got conical threads.

? So if you are replacing the standard plug with a sensor you dump the washer ?

The standard plug got straight threads, so a crush washer is needed.

I am not sure what you mean by conical threads?

I guess the taper is very slight as I did not notice a conical shape on the temp gauge sensor. Good news that a crush washer is not required as I would have had to drain the coolant again to put one on.Very Happy

I fell into this same screw-up.  I have a collection of parts I ordered over the years, then learned I had the wrong one or simply didn't need it (them) at all. Rolling Eyes
