Hi everyone,
It seems that most of us are interested in doing our own work on our bikes. As I get older the less I want to lie down on a cold garage floor staring up up the bike while I'm servicing it. Does anyone have any plans/links to a decent home made bike lift? I know $800-1000 will get you a good factory lift in N.America but BMW owners are innovators - correct?
Cheers
Jeff

I personally still lay on the floor, but soon I will be too old to do this pale

Sorry, the following link is in French but it has a lot of pictures.
This guy built his own bike lift and gives a lot of details.

Thanks a lot Bert. This looks like quite a piece of equipment! I can understand some French - enough to get a general understanding of what is going on in the manufacture of the lift.
Cheers
Jeff

The following link leads you to a place to purchase plans. I looked at them for years and finally bought. Of course, I waited until the price of steel put it out of short term reach, but am gathering and scrounging, hope to build soon.

http://www.afabonline.com/table_lift_plans.htm

The web site has many ideas and options that people have done to add or improve.

Harbor Freight also has one for about 350 to 400, but have heard it is flimsy in appearance. oogle "harbor freight bike lift" and you get hits from several MC discussion pages with various experienced critiques. The cost of this lift is way less than the price of the metal for the lift in the plans, plus it includes the hydraulics.

Good Luck
