Just to introduce myself, a long term BMW rider, I first got my K-100RT back in '88 and still have it.  I also have a F-650GS and R-1200RT.

I enjoy local riding and camping trips on the motorcycle.

Welkome from Oz.

With a nickname like Bumblebee you need to get yourself one of those Black & Yellow R100GS.

Cheers

Had one.  a '91 R100GS Paris-Dakar.  Custom painted with a big yellow stripe on the enormous tank.

I still to this day don't know why I sold that, got comments every where I went, people took photos of it.  After about 2 years of pestering by the then previous new owner I finally gave in.  Got a nice classic Triumph T-140V and a bunch of ca$h.  But, you know, I miss it.

John!  I've just invested in an R1200RT. What year model is yours and have you had grief with it?

I have had no grief with it at all.  In all the years I have owned it it's been pretty much flawless.
The grief I did have was all dealer induced, there was a clutch sub-cylinder recall, the bike was taken apart and updated, but the work wasn't done properly by the dealer.
There was some excessive vibration, but this was caught by the same dealer at the 6000 mile service and promptly repaired under warranty.

It's a 2007 model year, power assisted brakes, ABS, radio/CD option, pretty much all stock.  Here, this was taken when the bike was nearly new.

Here is the R1200RT

Here is the K100RT, taken fairly recently on a camping trip.  The bags are back at camp...
