Hi all,

I have fitted some Showa forks to my '89 K100RS and did eventually get the yokes to clamp the new, slightly smaller diameter forks but I don't really trust it as I had to tighten the bolts about 4 times before the forks stopped slipping upwards. I also have a notch in the steering head bearings so I figure why not replace the yokes with proper Showa ones at the same time? Problem is, some research has reminded me about my handlebars being rubber mounted and the 75s had that Fluidbloc thinger so maybe it's not that straightforward.. So, question time!

1) Can I fit K75 top and bottom yokes? Am I missing something obvious that would be a blocker? Will my button pad thing still fit?

2) Can I fit just a K75 lower yoke? If the bottom was clamping properly at least then I'd feel much happier, given the size of the bolts in the top yoke it's very secondary anyway. Are the threads the same on the stems? Are the stems even the same length??

3) How buzzy are the bars if solidly mounted on a 100? I do actually hate the queasy feeling of the rubber mounted bars but I'd also hate constant vibration white finger..

Sorry if all this has been covered time and again but a google search didn't bring up any help..

Hello, I dont know about difference in diameter of tubes but I mounted upper triple clamp from K 75 to K 100 early type without any problems. It happened two years ago I am shure that I got much better, firmer steering. Never go back to rubber mounts again. If the engine was properly tuned no noticeable vibes or buzzing. Full reccomendations.

Excellent, thank you nino. My motor is a bit buzzy (increasingly so..) but I do have the kit to balance the throttle bodies so it shouldn't be impossible to fix.

So, top yokes appear to be interchangeable. But are the bottom yokes and their stems interchangeable?

I really dont know. K 75 has steering damper?!

You don't have to fit the damper which is called a Fluid Block. It is basically a tube with a waffle pattern molded into it, into which heavy silicone grease is spread. The fluid block resides between the upper and lower steering head bearings. Even some k75 owners are now omitting the damper as it is no longer available new. I have K1100 forks and trees on my K75 Frankenbrick.  The steering stem has a smaller diameter so the Fluidbloc damper serves no purpose.  The only difference I noticed is that the steering is a tad wobbly at very low speeds - like when creeping forward behind a line of cars at a stop sign.  When I switched that bike from bias ply to radial tires that mostly went away and I now only notice it if I'm really paying attention to the steering.

You can stiffen up the rubber mounts on K100 fork trees by adding some washers as described at this link:

There are 3 different diameters for the forks.
The 75 yokes will fit without a problem, but youre gonna miss the rubber mounting for the steer.
Your conversion, the only benefit is the forkbridge.
