For a 1985 K100RT, the flexible brake line coming out of the rear master cylinder has a new part replacement that is 95mm (3.74 inches) longer than the original. Would you please help me with routing options?

Original part number:34 32 1 450 555    BRAKE HOSE - L=275MM (to 12/91)
Replacement part number:34 32 2 310 962    BRAKE HOSE - L=370MM (from 12/91)
This is from Max's page: http://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/DiagramsMain.aspx?vid=51754&rnd=07242017

As I was rebuilding the rear master cylinder, I thought I had the wrong part number, since the replacement was so much longer than the original. My old one wasn't leaking. I just thought it would be smart to replace a 34 year old brake line. :-o

I'm concerned about ground clearance for this extra length.

Not having an '85 K100RT to look at, I wonder if the longer hose replaces the two piece line of the pre12/91 configuration.

It still has a two piece assembly: front piece flexible hose, back piece metal tube.

Maybe you're supposed to replace both parts of the old brake line with the new hose.

For what its worth, when I replaced mine (84RS), the new hose in kit went straight into the caliper and removed the metal pipe as well.

Cheers Mick

What about the grommet that goes around the metal/rubber hose connector and fits into the swing arm?

Ran the brake line through the grommet. Looks like about 10cm extra length on line with pipe removed..
