I'd just like to say a heartfelt thank you to Bert for the magnificently colourful K100 wiring diagramme. After much sodding about with the woeful attempt Clymer put together, it was the colour coding in Bert's diagramme that allowed me to trace what was wrong with hazard/display/flasher problem I'd been wrestling with for a few days. Apparently, one of the previous owners "repaired" the hazard switch, but when soldering the connections put the earth on the wrong terminal. Given that this switch was seldom used, I never thought to test it, but lo and behold, when I pulled the bugger off the dash pad, and scraped away the layers of silicone sealer, I found the earthing wire in position 3 instead of in position 1. A quick application of soldering iron, solder removing gun, and new solder has remedied the problem and now my dash glows like a festivus tree! Cheers Bert! Massive thanks to Bert! 112350

I agree. How selfless and generous our man Bert is and has been to put this amazing forum together, with its wealth of information and excellent input from its members, which, I might add, continues to grow with like-minded individuals all apparently intent on keeping our beloved marque soldiering down the track. Goodonya, mate! Cheers.

Thanks Guys!

With all the posts on this forum, I am still learning. This community is continually growing and the numbers of experts (or technically well informed riders) are really helping the 'newbies' to keep these old girls on the road.
This was the intend of this forum and it works. I am sure that we already helped to save a couple of Ks from being put to rest at the scrapyard. They are so easy to work on that with a little bit of guidance most of the owners should be able to maintain and repair them. Few months ago, I heard that a BMW mechanic is using this forum when he has to troubleshoot a K bike.

I am still filtering the registration to ensure that members and posts meet the intent of this forum. No later than this week, I refused somebody who wanted to register with the name of 'Mad Bomber'. I kindly asked him to choose another name, but after a couple of days without a reply, I simply deleted the registration.
One of the person who was denied access to this forum sent me a very rude Email. It just made me happy that my judgement was right and this person would not fit into our community.
Sometimes, I am wrong and accept people who start to spam for their first post. I am quick to delete them and ban them to re-register. This is very rare but it happens.

Thanks to all the contributing members and long life to the K!

Bert
