Any tricks on getting the damper rod out of the lower fork? Cap screw and damper rod both spin, even with a rattle gun.

i have also experienced that .....best i could do was to tap the bolt on the bottom with a straight piece of soft metal ...(a few times ) to loosen the thread ,,,,then to apply downward presure on the forks to keep help the piston engaged to the bottom of the fork tubes .
