being vertically challenged and seeing what k freak had done to Margret's(hope i got name right sorry if i didnt) k75 i have got myself a rear shock that is 20mm shorter than standard apart from
1.fork tubes hitting handle bars will try swapping clamps around if not high enough spacer and longer bolts will be needed
2. bike will be harder to get onto centre stand
can anyone think of anything else i need to consider before i start to pull bike apart
thanks
col

thats about it ..col ...good luck mate ...

i guess youll be looking for any divot in the road surface to help pull the bike up on the centre stand .... but can i offer this advice ....

when doing the lift firmly place your right foot on the lever at the bottom and use your right knee to assist the launch with your right hand on the lift bar ....and left hand on the handle bars....to pull back a little .

many times before i felt as if i strained my back ...lifting ..the incorrect way, till i found this tecknique ...it just sorta just "all falls into place" if you practice a little

cheers

I think Charlie has got it. I once saw a mechanic who was 5 foot nothing put my bike on the centre stand. He actually rocked it foward and pulled it backwards at a relatively slow pace...one fluid movement. But no doubt he had been doing it for some time.

G'day Col, I recently lowerd my 75 by fitting a shock 20 mm shorter and I also lowered the front by raising the handlebar by about 20mm by reversing a set of clamps and sliding the forks up by 20mm(thanks to whoever gave me that advice).Like you I found the bike a bit harder to get up on the centre stand but a bit more load on the stand lever with your right foot and a bit more muscle on the lifting bar works a treat.Cheers Tom Grabau

vertically challenged

the most cute description I´ve ever heard ...

as concerned person with ex 11 LT

1. 1,70 m is a must have
2. lowering the fork & the rear shock is the the last method
- the ride height goes down
- the center & side stand don´t work propperly anymore

the 1st way is always to check/change the seat
that´s why i´ve changed the K to the low seat K75 & K100/2

no - the K models don´t suite to everyone - sad but true

G'day zonenfeile,Ganz Richtig....but I'm finding that a K75 lower seat was just about impossible to find in Australia thats why it was lowered as a last resort. The side stand seems to be working well... Hummel Hummel; Cheers Tom Grabau

Col, how do you change gears wearing stiletos? The picture in my mind is getting more weird. A 1.6 m bloke with green stiletos and a helmet trying to park a K in Summer St Orange on a Friday night outside The Royal.

with great difficulty on the gear change it was the fishnets that raised the most eyebrows

The last time I saw Orange in the news it was for cricket sized hail how do the fishnets handle that?? or do you take them off and cover the crop with them??

Hi Col In the new year I might be able to post pictures of a moded rt bar. Im waiting on a mate to mig it back together, they're from the crached rt I bought, I've cut the bars at the end of the knurling and am adding 2inch angle iron, once cleaned up they should allow the forks to come right up. they are set up so they wont bother the steering head pad (keypad) fitting neatly in there. When its all mig'd up and painted i'll take the pics and post them, may be just what people are searching for. May be totally illegal also? dont know.

Col we look forward to hearing how that goes, spirited riding ? perhaps just some love doing this type riding, anyway its usually the hump in the middle of the bend that induces a touch down, its not usually the wander over local roads heh?

Isn't there a very fine race track near by that by now would be a public road again you could do a lap (appraisal only)

just returned home from camping trip via icely rd which runs parrell to hwy to bathurst with heaps of corners from 35kph only nearly scraped once (boot a little thinner on outside edge) when had to back off quickly
not under power so bike was a little lower in front
didn't scrape once coming out of the newnes valley harpins 10 15 25 kph corners
rear shockie is great firm but not to harsh
lowering the bike was one of the best things i could have done iam lot more comfortable riding around town now

Great new col no scraping is the way to go. Nice write up of the newnes bends will have to go look it up in one of my NRMA maps. one of the things I loved about Bike Australia was the write ups on rallies and camping spots or just plain good riding roads, I believe the Bear does a good write up in his Australian Road rider Mags, I prefer the Custon and trike mag though. love seeing what people do to their rides.
