I had to remove my gearbox to do a clutch repair and when doing it left the oil in the box to make things a bit quicker but when on the floor some oil managed to get into the main input shaft centre where the clutch pushrod goes.
When I put it back I left the pushrod out for ease of installation but when I put the pushrod back in the oil was pushed out the front of the shaft and onto the clutch with bad results.
Fortunately I left the job just after installing the gearbox and discovered a few drops under the bike next day and found out what happened after some investigation.
Of course I had to remove the Gearbox and clutch to clean it but as I had not used the clutch it was OK after a good clean with thinners then Metho and a cooking in the stove with the roast. (it's a new way to baste a roast chicken, EP90)
Lesson learned remove the oil before removing the gearbox it saves time.

There's no such thing as a simple job KF! Lucky you got it sorted before you killed the clutch, good save mate.
