That is a very clever and simple modification of slip joint pliers which are normally a total abomination but with that mod they become an ingenious tool, top marks to the inventor!

Nice find CF usefull tools, I have something similar to those locking ring pliers, the amount of those locking rings I have seen fitted with a hammer and punch and the edges chipped off.

I like the lock ring pliers but we all know that sometimes the area around the lock ring does not afford us the space to use a tool like this. But, still ingenious. Thanks for letting me post, Alyson

A couple of weeks ago, Lidl supermarket had some waterpump pliers on offer at £1.99.
An hour or so with files produced this:-



It fits my bicycle bottom bracket a treat, but I can't think of any lockrings on a K?

Umm, Blakey, they've got red handles....that's so old hat!
