Hello to everyone on the Forum.

It has been a long time since my last post ~ for those of you who haven't seen my previous posts, I will briefly recap.

I had the good fortune to acquire a K100RS bike which until the day I purchased it, had stood neglected in a damp and dusty lock up garage for 22 years. The bike had 9000 miles on the clock, all legitimate and documented. My intension on the day I got it home was to spend 2 days a month on the project over the next year in order to bring the bike back on to the road.

Unfortunately, due to my workload, I now realise this was a very optimistic and very little time has been afforded to the bike, although some progress however small has been made.

The bike is now totally striped down to the frame which has been sandblasted, etch primed and powder coated. The top and bottom triple clamps and the swinging arm has been done as well. The petrol tank had two holes in it, by pure chance, I managed to source a NOS tank very cheap together with a brand new fuel pump.

The following work has also been completed, the tank, front mudguard, side pannels and the tail pieces have now been sprayed blue metalic with white pin stripes. My intension is to run the bike "naked" for a short time when it's finished, just to get in back out on the road. I will tackle the fairing at a later date.

As this year is now coming to an end and the nights are drawing in. I have made the decision to take most of the winter months off and set myself the challenge of making significant progress as I am not as far on with the bike as I would have hoped to be at this point in time.

My next task is to replace all the seals in the engine, gearbox and final drive, also I am expecting to have to replace parts in the water and oil pumps.

During the year I have managed to pick up several good parts for the bike including, A new front wheel, headlight with cowl including the indicators. Also I have managed to source a front master cylinder centre, side stand, throttle bodies and injectors, rear wheel and a wiring harness ~ although I am not sure this is complete! My total outlay for all these was approximately £120

I am relatively new to the forum and whilst I enjoy reading the posts, would like to contribute more and include some pictures of the bike. Up to now, I have not managed to find out how to load these to my blog!!

Is there anyone on the forum who would be able to give me a "step by step" guide on how to load pictures ~ I will then be able to show the bike on the day of purchase, pictures take during the strip down and the current state of the bike.

I would like to close by saying a "big thank you" to all those who made me welcome on the forum and replied to my posts. Also to those who have given me encouragement and the inspiration to take this project on.

Regards

I agree it's better to have the bike running good than looking good, at least to start with.

After a long winter of maintenance and upgrades I run the bike naked, or near naked, for a couple of weeks to a months' time. This gives me a chance to work out all the little details and correct any mistakes. Once I'm satisfied with the result, then pile on all the extra's including panniers, coverings, engine guards, etc.

Keep on wrenching. mech

Hi, thanks for the replies ~ hope to get busy this week with the bike.

It's seems easier to strip & rebuild a bike without a manual than to master the computer!

Pictures to follow when the computer decides to play along!!
