Could it be the timing needs adjusting slightly ?

You say checked plugs but have you replaced them as a low battery can cause plugs to foul and never recover.

I know you have been here for a while but it is a good memory jogger to have a look at THIS page.
So you just bought a K. And thought I had better check it and it says nothing about the plugs.
NGK D7EA are teh ones you want.
Make sure they have the stud on top.

Got nothing to do with clocks
Been running spot on for 1500 miles and not one fault.

It's coughing when in idle and you rev it say 1/4 throttle then it starts doing it.

Changed plugs and still the same and also air flow meter with no joy

if it was a gas torch yellow flame would be a non efficient flame sooty but if it was a blue flame then that would be hotter . .do you think its getting to much fuel and not burning it off properly ? and the plugs are deffo not black and sooty/wet ?

What you need is someone that works on jet engines to tell you about flames and efficency . . look what comes out of a jet on afterbuner its like blue pure hot burned gas with no sooty smoke

maybe because you got them fancy pipes you need a colder set of plugs someone here will tell you the direction to go dont take my word for it but i think it would be a step down to a "7"

Could also be a idea to check the water temp sensor.

Measure the resistance between contact #10 & 13 at the Jetronic
multiconnector and compare with the temp/resistance chart in the
troubleshooting diagram at the portal.

For multiconnector numbering, look at reply 13 in this link.

Long shot. Someone on the forum had a problem with a slight hesitation.
Turned out to be some metal swarf behind the 'T' shaped cover on the front of the engine where the ignition trigger lives.
Might be worth checking the if ignition timing while you are there, if you haven't done that already.

Have you checked the whole intake system for air leaks including the crankcase breather system?

What I am thinking is leaks in the actual crankcase not just at the breather.
Remove the oil filler cap and see if it falters or even stalls. If there is a leak the ingoing air will prevent most of the tell tale oil leak that can occur.

Try this; have the bike running and open up the crank case filler plug. If the engine running doesn't change you've got a good air leak somewhere. With all the work you've done is the elbow between the air-filter housing and the plenum properly seated/sealed?

It seems to have jumped a tooth on the cam chain :/

Was there ever a problem with the tensioner going weak?

If it has jumped a tooth then the chain has to be worn as well as tensioner problems. I would recommend replacing all the bits including the hydraulic piston as next time it might go a few more and destroy an engine.
