On my K75 there is one of these heavy wire shapes on a short webbing strap attached to the inside of the frame on each side and there are two of the plastic clips, secured under the nut on each of the studs from the forward mounting bracket of the rear mudguard. Until recently the bike had the low seat option, but this is now off and a standard height dual comfort seat is fitted so I have installed the injection controller holder with the under seat tool box and there is no room for the two little plastic clips (not that it matters).

I'm sure there are many among you who know the purpose of these fittings and can enlighten me.

The low seat K75C that I owned for a number of years had nothing similar. It looks to me like an owner's fix for something no longer fitted.

From Maxbmw....used from 08/90....no idea about the purpose.

They are called a 'helmet holder' and when pulled out and hung over the frame rail the chin strap can be attached to the hook. I had them fitted to my low seat K75 but made battery removal extremely difficult so were removed. Page 25 of the riders handbook refers John

Yep, low seat part. #27 I believe.  Only $27.05 for a little strap with a hook on it.

Yeah the straps make sense as a helmet holder if flipped out over the frame so they can be accessed. Since I posted I thought to try the wire clip into the small plastic clip and they fit so it is likely the plastic clips are a stowage point for the wire clip. Not sure I'll keep them - will try the getting battery in & out as John suggests first.
