Would you believe that most of the Irish riders are eccentric?

This long week end, I attended the 46th bluenose rally (This is the oldest bike rally in Canada). Sadly, most of The members of the organizing club are now in their 70s and unless new blood join them, the 50th will be the last one.

6 Irish riders from the New York Gaelic MC attended. The BMW sticker on the sidecar was an eye catcher.

and soon the bike and the rider were wrapped with the Irish flag.

As expected, these eccentrics were a lot of fun and they were rewarded with a trophy.
Even if the BMW community was well represented, I saw only 3 other K bikes (2 of them had over 350k kilometers)
I also caught one rider with an interesting T-shirt.


Sunday brunch was hosted at the local university and I was awarded with a Bachelor of Bluenose Motorcycle Rallying. It doesn't take a lot to amuse kids....
Finally a diploma to hang in my home office. Thursday was my last official day at work and the rally was my retirement party. This was a fun time.
One of my buddy received a "master" as he attended 45 of the 46 editions.

good to see Bert ..... that clover leaf has spread all over the place thanks to the enthusiastic irish   some 50 or more has been spread across aussie with many thanks to Will (88KE) and the rest of the eccentrics with  ed . rosscco and other aussies spreading the camaraderie around ...pitty that the young folks are reticent to join in such rallys where you are .

we do see out here some young ones making the trips to rallys ...thank heavens ...but have to admit that most that we see are more mature age riders on many of the events that a lot of us attend .

perhaps there is a shift to street performance type things where young ones do the ride on a single day only ....perhaps they enjoy the luxuries of home more than the effort to stay away a few days

congratulations on your retirement .. I hope that you enjoy the extra time not at work ...perhaps a few projects can be completed ?

For the fun, this is how I announced my intention to retire to my manager:

This intent of this letter is to inform you that as June 30, 2016 you will be terminated as my manager.
Working for the last 20 years at the school board gave me the opportunity to create a lifelong bond with HRM pension plan.
Consequently, I have decided to enter into a partnership with HRM pension plan and Canada Pension Plan as the two major investors. The preliminary business plan is very promising and Old Age Security (OAS) has already been retained as a future partner in this venture.
This new partnership will be effective the same day as your termination.
