Has anybody had the top of the green start button pop off? Does this cause corrosion inside the switch? How long before it stops working?

First time iv heard of this happening.to prevent corrosion etc, Gaffer Tape as a short term fix. Unless you have the button and can refit it scratch

The "rubber" piston seal from inside a 10cc plastic syringe will clip on in place of the missing button.

I can't remember where I first learnt this, possibly on this forum! Thanks to whoever first posted it.

 and also the replacement buttons from Hardtoptire work a treat, from memory you have to keep your own spring though so don't loose it

The K75 that has not been ridden since 2010, and has been moved to a few places with me as a “parts bike” had that button cap go missing somewhere along the way. But I hope it has a 1100 brake / switch on it when it ever makes it back on the road.

Thanks for response, I was looking for a replacement handlebar switch and I saw one with a yellow switch between the start button and the directional cancel switch. What is the yellow switch for, and will it work on my bike if it is currently not equipped with it?

I think you're describing the European headlight switch. It allows you to run without the headlight. It's a plug-and-play swap on U.S. bikes. I have one on my K75RT.

It's the headlight/park switch. In the US I think it's wired permanently on, so you don't need it. It should be OK for you, but getting a roadworthy might be difficult at anal places where all switches would want to work.

Edit: I'll guess the switch is deleted to comply with US law.

G'day in 1988 onwards it became an Australian complance/law(ADR) to have our headlights permantly wired in the on position. It was thought it would improve our safety, helping us to be seen. Hence different types of switches.
