A piece of wood, such as a tree branch, that is used for fuel, cut for lumber, or shaped for a specific purpose (dipping in your tank maybe) , try finding a nice straight part and cut the bark off . Very Happy

As a boy we had a 1927 DA Dodge as the family car. The fuel gauge had long since given up working. Dad kept a length ow wood dowel in the car and a quick dip ascertained remaining fuel.

I often drove my dad's 1960 VW Bug convertible as a teen. No gas gauge. It had a lever at the bottom middle of the fire wall that you'd flip over to reserve when the engine started to sputter. (Like many 2-wheeled vehicles.)

When I owned an MG I learned that a boot was not a shoe and a bonnet was not a hat.

I shall be visiting Mericaland towards the end of the year.  Past experience has taught me that you have to speak slowly for 'em to understand proper English.

That's probably why they call me Sir, all the time, 'cause I can speak English as it is meant to be spoken. Fuel light unit - Page 2 214585
