Good evening all –

I’ve been working on a no start issue on my 1985 K100RS using the wonderful information on this forum.  Cleaned the starter, ignition switch and right hand switch assembly. After much tracing and cleaning I finally got the starter to turn this afternoon; the issue was (I think) a combination of ignition switch and kill switch/start button gunk.
 
Unfortunately, now I have another problem to fix.  When cleaning the R/H switch assembly I seem to have made the turn signal cancel button even more sticky.  When you press it *up* the button sticks there and doesn’t return down on its own.  It does have proper electrical contact as it will cancel the turn signal but you have to push it down or it will stay in cancel mode.
 
Has anyone seen this or disassembled the rockers for the turn signal and cancel buttons?  I used the right hand switch repair instructions in the Portal (after translating from German to English), which worked wonders for the kill switch and start button cleaning.
 
I’m thinking now that I need to find a way to get the turn signal cancel button out of the housing for a deeper clean – if possible.

If you have had the rest of the switch apart then going in again will be easy. There is a small spring and a Brass spigot and if the spigot is put in backwards that problem will occur. I have been caught and also helped 2 others from this forum fix it. The way it goes in is sort of counter intuitive.

Here are illustrated switch repair instructions in English that can be found in the Portal way over in the right hand column of the Tech Page. It shows the spigot to which Rick G refers in its correct position.

Do not over-tighten the screw that holds the switch body on. It seems a bit counter-intuitive but if you only moderately tighten that screw then the button will release more easily. BTDT

I think this is it - from the link above it looks like I have the brass spigot in backwards.

I'll change it up (and not overtighten the screw) and reply back.

And that did the trick - works fine now.  Took less time to correct than a quarter of my beer (maybe I need to work slower).  

If I'm ever in there again I'll remember to re-install the pin so that it's at "full attention".
