Hello K100 friends,

I want to install a temp sensor directly plugged in one of the two following water pipes (4 and 7 - 4 being ma favourite location for the sensor):

Unfortunately, in order to order the inline sensor adapter I need to know the precise inside diameter of these water pipes.

Anybody knows? I found on internet 32 mm and 22 mm but this dimensions do not seem to by good (undersized).

Are you aware there is already a threaded hole in the water pump for a temp sensor?

Also, hose 4 is for bypassing the radiator whilst the engine reaches temperature - I'd guess there'll be very little flow once that happens, so it wouldn't be an ideal location for indicating coolant temp.

Ebay item 184305200300 screws straight into that hole - from memory the thread is M10x1.0 whereas aftermarket sensors are more commonly 1/4" NPT, I will check though.

EDIT: Yep it is M10x1.0 The pic shows its location on the lower LH side of the pump casing - the one in the pic actually has an OE sender screwed in (an option on some models) instead of the more common blanking plug. It's the smaller of the two senders you can see; the other is the oil pressure switch.

Unfortunately no. I was waiting to snipe it, with a bid ready. She bid early and someone else outbid me before I could rescue the damn situation. Sad to say, but the truth is that the kids were more amused by my reaction than by the cat's uselessness at bidding.

I'm confused: Isn't there already a temp sensor / thermistor plugged into the return housing? (can't see the number in OP's diagram, but it's next to #16). Are you looking for something else?

That sensor helps control the fan and communicates with the engine management system. The implication in the responses here is that the original poster might be looking just to add a signal for a water temperature gauge that would be fairing-mounted or mounted on the handlebar. The combo pump has a theaded hole to receive such a sensor; in absence of one, a drain plug is mounted.

I find a good water pipe lessens the harsh.

Hi

The sensor you are referring to is part of the fuel injection and engine management system.
The sensor at the bottom of the water/oil pump is part of the instruments water temperature set up.
