I have a 1990 K1, where I might get an hour into a ride and the tacho drops to zero and I lose power.  Not enough to stop, but enough.  I was researching similar issues and found a Ducati with an intermittent electrical / grounding issue that meant that one cylinder lost power - the one connected to the tacho.  Has anyone seen this problem before?  Is it similar to the Ducati?  I have a manual, but reading the electrical diagrams is beyond me.  Would you know which cylinder to start with?

Got 2 coils, 1 is for cilinder 1 and 4, the other one is for cilinder 2 and 3.
Sounds like a fail on a coil when it gets hot, shit is over when it cools down.

Nice page to watch and about your coils (almost at the bottom of the page)

Also check the earthlines, there is a thick wire on top of the gearbox directly to the battery, a bunch together under the tank, and ofcourse the lines to the coils.

Any suggestions on where to buy replacement coils for a K1?  Bosch part number 0221500413.  I have had a look and there are some for K100 which are part number 12131459513, but the base looks different.

Don't go throwing money at a problem until you know for sure where the problem is. The Hall sensors are a likely culprit along with the coils.
Go to the portal page and look for a guide on testing coils and sensors it could just save what hair you have left.

Either Hall Sensor or a coil causes 2 cylinders to drop out.

The rev counter is attached to one of the coils.

Simple test is if you can by feeling the headers decide the 2 cylinders that die, its either 1/4 or 2/3, then change the coils over. They are interchangeable.

If the dud cylinders stay same, its Hall sensor, if dud cylinders change to follow the coil change, then its the coil is your problem.
