Hi
I joined cos I have a K75, which since I got old and weak is too much for me below 5mph on the road, and moving in the yard.

I'm not sure what to do so hope to learn from the hive mind here

I'm over 70 and live in North Manchester, England.

Welcome George, as a Southern UK resident (also in 70th year) I've been toying with the idea of adding a sidecar to my K1100. Others have done it and there are various references amongst these pages. However, the weather down this way is so appalling I rarely get to ride the thing anyway and am working on it to change the Street cafe racer I bought into a scrambler with a 1960,,'s vibe. So a chair if fitted would be more of a frame than anything comfortable. Welcome aboard.

Hi George, unfortunately old age (78yrs} and ill health forced me to make the dissension to sell my kIOO RS as loss of body strength made it unsafe to ride. Hopefully you are fit enough to  still ride a lighter bike so consider swapping the K75 for a bike you feel safe on sad to say my days of ridding are over. . I started riding when i was 9 yrs old (on the farm as you do) so had a good run. enjoy what you can ride good luck mate

Hi George, I've restarted my exercise routine, a mixture of yoga stretches at the same time as karate (for example wrist and arm stretches while doing squats and lunges)

You will feel better, your balance will improve, and you might have some health issues you've learnt to live with, that just disappear, at least with me anyway.

It's living on nicely too, since I got it on 17th March last year it has been to Spain and France and getting about the place and about 5,000 miles on it since I got it. But at some point it will be a rinse and repeat as time will catch up on me too. It does live in the company of a K1100LT, K100RS and K100RT......and my thoughts veer towards a sidecar.

Hmmm. So I'm the youngster here so far, having just turned 65. Even so, I admit there are times when both Kostenlot and LFB have caught me out with the weight whereas ten years ago I'd have just cussed at them.

Thanks for the welcome,
atm thoughts are, sell the 75 for a loss, put what it brings into a RE 350, or Him Or a G310, Or a 400 Triumph, at my age only BMW offer test rides. 

OR tri to get the 75 seat height down and do lots of exercise.

Head & neck surgeon on Thursday, so I will probably ride the little Honda there I think, cos it's always a laugh to turn up to hospital appointments on a motorcycle.

Hi Olaf, it warms the old heart to know our K is doing well and being ridden as it should, Quite a surprise to find out that Dai is a relatively young wipper snapper so lots of miles left in him Very Happy. As for hospital appointment rides i was 68/69 yr old when i had a knee replacement and arrived on the K 14 days post opp for the staples to be removed surgeon was not pleased but loved the bike  Razz Razz.George whatever you decide have fun mate Thanks for having me 212902

My exercise routine can be done in an hour. Previously when I was truck driver, I'd do it three times a week. Now that I have a more active job, I only do it once a week. Even a fifteen minute routine would be good I think.

Something I always remember that my doctor from decades ago used to say; if you're not prepared to spend some time on your health early on,  be prepared to spend lots of time in poor health in old age. That helps to motivate me, anyway sometimes I give it a miss.

Riding to the hospital is a lot better than only riding half way and doing the rest of the ride in an ambulance like I did when I was 71.  Even if I could have rode the bike wasn't in an condition to do it.Thanks for having me In_the11
