Should look like a spray mist a jet is bad and indicates a malfunctioning injector. It should also be pulsing earth connection applied to the injector not continuous earth.

definitely fine spray not mist. There is no real way for you to test the performance of the injectors. For a modest fee your local garage with the correct equipment should be able to test and clean the injectors.

Now, there is no way of fixing them. You can only clean and test the flow at the correct pressure. So, it is worth getting them cleaned and tested.

My son works at a nisan dealership and brought home the equipment needed to do an inboard injecter clean. It uses a wyns spray product that you tap straight into the fuel rack. The difference in power economy and throttle response is amazing. I had problems with the bike choaking randomly and this cured that problem

I see ultrasonic cleaners on ebay cheap. Wouldn't these chase out the gremins?

Before making any moves, I would get a bottle of Chevron "Techron" and run a strong solution of it through 1 tank of fuel.......assuming the machine is drivable........getting as much wide open throttle-heavy load running as practical. This stuff works very well.
A good idea of spray ability..... can be had by pulling the entire fuel rail with nozzles attached and just tipping the nozzles slightly out away from the engine. With the ignition coil "Primary wires" unhooked to prevent sparking, hold a flat piece of cardboard about 5" below the nozzles and crank the starter over a couple of turns.
A resulting pattern on the cardboard that's a nice round dark spot about 2" across shows pretty well that the injectors should be useable.
Proper cautions for fire danger are essential.

I'd like to inject a variation please. Today I took some spare injectors to a shop to get cleaned and new o rings etc. They insisted on adding new tiny filters to the fuel rail end of the injector, saying that it was imperitave and would have been originally fitted. I have pulled out 3 sets of injectors from old K's and haven't seen one with a filter fitted.
Anyone got any thoughts? please. My Blue Max 85 RT has done 25,000 klm without these things in. Should I be worried, as they need to put installed with a special tool apparently. Sending photo's after I pick them up.

They should be there and I am supprised that some didn't have them. Usually when you do an injector it's two O rings and a filter.

I'm surprised none of your injectors have had filters fitted. The filters are required IMO. They are the last defense from dirt in the fuel and ensure a long life for the injector's internals. Read this post.

I wouldn't believe what you've been told about the tools. The special insertion tool is a hammer and the special extraction tool is a #8 screw clamped in a vice. The process is very simple and you can recondition a set of 4 injectors with new O-rings, filters and end-caps in an hour or so.

They are TINY little oblong mesh screens that are kind of "pressed down" into the hole in the center of the inlet hole.
They can appear to be part of the injector itself. I think they incorporate a brass ring around the center of the top edge.
Look closely directly down in to the top of the injector with a bright light.....I'm guessing they are there.
Usually a screen can be extracted with just the correct size sheet metal screw lightly started down into the center of the top hole and then pulled out (on the end of the screw) with a very firm tug from a pair of pliers.
It helps to identify them if you can see a new one before it's installed.

Thanks, I just know I will get ripped off as the older guy I dealt with before has retired
(did me a price favour as he liked the bike). 3 of the injectors came back from them without caps or o rings or filters last time, although they now deny having done the work.
Anyway, all part of the conspiracy to keep RT poor. All I want is to get the new bike started.
Cheers RT

Well Charlie it's a few months ago, bought a clapped out 91 LT with RT fairing and belonged to a one legged rider so gear shifter was improvised, leaks around fork seals, valve cover, rear brake line and has real short suspension . But was black and I'm hoping to do it naked. (maybe in summer). Fires but wont start, injectors looked bad but I have it almost ready to test fire again.
Thanks Blakey I'll send PM.

Fun? Charlie.
Expecting major frustrations and stress but am looking forward to it. Started a resto thread a while ago but been working on the other beast meantime. Finally got the crankcase cover sealed and all hoses replaced. It's been fun with everybody's help. Now it's raining so can finally concentrate on pulling bits off.
