Hi all, great to have such a forum to read and get advice from. I've had a 1985 K100RS for some time now. Had it repainted and looking bewdiful, then fell off. A fair bit of it was wrecked and so was my leg so the bike got parked down the back shed for a few years. I finally got the enthusiasm to fix her up so it's in the workshop now and I'm scouring the interwebthingy for this and that (that's how I found this forum). No luck with fairings so have decided to go 'naked'. I've found most of what I need except for fuel tank and handlebars, then I'll have to ask for some help with what to do about a front headlight and indicators.

That's the bike. Me, I live in the beautiful North East of Victoria where it's great to ride a bike. I'll post a pic or two when I can get around to it.

Greetings Marty that sure is a nice part of the country my favourite road is the one from Harrietville to Mt Beauty.
As for the parts a headlight for a GSX 1400 Suzuki will do the trick and I got some new indicators from fleabay that looked much the same as the rear lenses and suited. The tank well there are quite a few around but not many really good ones that dont require a patch under the fuel pump or the other side as well.

Hi Marty, welcome to the nut house that is this forum. Good bunch of folks here.

I am seriously thinking of morphing my RS into a naked K, so I'm doing the headlight/indicator changes.

Marty I should have mentioned motorworks have a lot of fairing parts too. I have replaced some of mine from them. However dont be afraid to buy some damaged panels locally and repair them. When you have all the panels you can then get an autoshop to spray them up for you. Do a trial assembly first and include the pockets lights etc to make sure everything finds and that you know where the scratch risks are. I like a naked bike but for any decent runs they dont work quite so well.

Hi Marty, Good to see you've regained your enthusiasm for the K. It's a disease there's no known cure for but treatment with regular vists to the forum can keep it to manageable proportionsNewbie - K100RS (sort of) 340248 .

I bet a nekkid K bike is a nice thing in Victoria but it our wet & cooler climate it's hard to beat a barn door's woth of plastic out front!

Let's be having some piccies of this creation asap.

Ha ha, yeah I suppose it's a bit drier and warmer here. To be honest I was a bit half-hearted about doing the bike up at first because I really loved the bike with all it's bits in the right place and not being able to source any fairings I was just messing about with it. After talking to mates who suggested to forget about the fairings and then making that decision I have become more enthusiastic. Can't say that I'm doing anything fantastic, I'm just putting it back together without the fairings so don't expect too much!
