Hello everyone. You may wonder why a K1100LT rider wanted to join a K100 OG forum. Well mine is one of the first K1100LTs. It has, as near as I can tell, the same engine management system and abs as late K100 4 valves, the same wheels etc.

This is us:
Hello all DSCF2044a

I've had the old girl for 12 years now. We've not done a huge number of miles (25,000), most of it touring. I do look for and try other bikes, but I really can't find anything which suits me better.

As you can see I've lowered the seat (suspension as well but thats not in this pic). Other mods include removing the topbox and rack, a larger alternator and added pillion handles.

Poor 88KE. He did say grab handles, not love handles. Always a gentleman.

Gerry you are very welcome and nice to see such a good condition K bike.

We have great fun over here and if you do read about Irish Eccentrics you will see 88KE, gmcq, myself 92KK and a few more members had a really enjoyable run up the Antrim in September, courtesy of ComberJohn. We also had a great run in August. Check out a nice K1, Trapper. You will also see we are planning a Kerry run in next June to coincide with a large BikeFest in Killarney. Since you are only a short distance across the pond maybe you might even see about a trip in this direction.......could be a nice holiday for K1100 and Mrs G!!!. We promise not to embarrass you.

It is a great site for technical know how, help of all kinds and best of all your life will be better for it.

Hello everyone, this is quite a welcome!

First of all the lady in
the picture isn't my wife, or girlfriend, we're just good friends. In
fact it was her boyfriend taking the picture. Its the only decent &
recent photo I've got of Fancy Nancy (the bike).

As for
embarrasment I grew out of that the day I turned up at my dealer on the
brand-new bike (Norton 650SS) I'd just bought from him and caught my
trouser leg on the kickstart. The bike and I both keeled over with a
loud crash and everyone sprinted out to see what had happened.

#RT - Please don't poison yourself on my behalf.

#88KE - Grab/pillion handles aren't fitted to the K1100LT, the rack gets in the way hence the blanking plugs you see in the picture.

Here's an old pic with the rack and topbox in place:

Hello all K1100lt_standard

As you can see the rack runs hard against where the grab rail is normally. It also gives something to hang on to.

I think I have figured it out a bit, maybe.
Mine is ex police and so the rear ducktail and seat etc. is from a different bike because the police had single seat. I dare say many would be in the same situation. gmcq yours looks like an ex police but Gerrys is probably not and came from the fatory without rhe grab handles because it has OEM top box.

Mine is also ex-police, so maybe your thinking is correct. The bike would probably have had a single seat when the police had it Wink

I had a look at a K11 a while ago and it had the ducktail and seat from an 85 K100 with the grab handles in the seat.

The colour is 'Silk Blue' and its the main reason I bought the bike twelve years ago.

My plan was to buy a cheap ex-police bike and build an 1100cc K75. I'd just been to see some and was on my way home to make up my mind which one to have. Went into a dealer to buy a pair of gloves and Nancy was sitting on the forecourt.

Apparently the owner of the shop bet the sales manager that I would never take the fairing off once I'd tried it. Twelve years later it's still there.

I know what you mean Gerry. I love the look of some of the Naked K's but riding home yesterday on a cold Autumn day in light rain I knew I wouldn't have to stopo and pull on the waterproofs, my jeans wouldn't even get a drop on them because of the full fairing's protection. That's a hard fact to ignore in this climate. I shall continue to lust after other bikes in the hope that someday I might afford a second one but the fairing is staying on mine too!
