Hi everyone, don't actually own a K, always wanted one though and now want to know more about the engine specifically.

I have a car project in mind and thought you guys would know all there is to know about the K engine.

Also I love the idea of a K cafe racer. So all in all just interested in these bikes generally.

Thanks

Hi and welcome from another Noob (I only joined up yesterday).
I'm sure you'll find all the info you want (and more) on this forum.

Do I remember correctly about a K-series based, concept bike/car from BMW that had an arched 'roof', rudders/wheels that popped out at low speed and a gearbox conversion that allowed reverse gear? Does that sound right? It would have been over 20 years ago.

What you have in mind I think is the Swiss company Peraves, which made several different models.

The company still eksist....I think.

BTW. welcome to the madhouse, both of you.

Welcome Blimp. I'm not the most technical on the forum and tend to only get into the specifics of the bits on a need to know basis but the guys'n'gals on the forum are always there to help when I do. I'm sure you'll get the answers you're looking for here if it involves a K engine.

Welcome to the forum Blimp. Well we have one member with a K100 engine in a Hovercraft so in a car sounds sane actually.
There was and maybe still is a UK mob that made kit cars with K series bits a bit like a more modern morgan.
Klompy if it has a roof then it needs a steering wheel.

could not agree more....takes me back to when my uncle (who was the black sheep of the family) would come by with his most recent purchase and one occasion it was a messerschmidt thing and my dad was a keen motorcyclist and was not amused.

not exactly a steering wheel or a set of handle bars....more an aircraft yolk I think.
