Tenth set in 50,000 miles???

I see difficulty when you meet Jack's parents. 'Fast woman', 'She doesn't hang around'. My dad would have simply asked for ride on your bike.

No one gets to ride bikey but me! They dont understand his little quirky bits. And not burnouts! Just enthusiastic riding Razz included in that is a set of bridgestones that did 1000 miles and then started to split (did get a refund) and a set of conti gos which are just awful. Hes on metxlers now, this last set have done about 5000 miles (a lot of motorway though so the back is square) and the front is bulging from the crash so needs replacing. Love buying tyres Very Happy yay!!!! so exciting!!!! And mums dont like me because im ginger Sad nothing to do with leading anyone astray Razz impossible with snod anyway, hes older than me so i cant be the bad influence!! Razz

To be fair mine has Conti Gos on it and after 6000 miles there isn't much left, especially on the rear. It's by far the quickest I've worn out a front tyre.

A new pattern headlight has been sourced for the CB250 which uses one of those newfangled halogen bulbs and a replacement pair of forks have arrived though one stanchion has a quite nasty score along it in the area of travel, I'm not too impressed by that breaker. The headlight and clock holding bracket has broken, and the tacho cable has shoved its way into the tachometer breaking off the mounting lugs of the drive so I need a new tacho too. And I still need a mudguard, gear and clutch levers and some symmetrical handlebars.. Sigh

Wrong answer! Supposed to feel bad about Bikey! I didn't think you would be feeling too bad about the 250, but was better than a K.

Glad you are both ok and that Bikey and Silver ride again!

I wonder how the 250 would cope with a rear ender from an impatient Becky on Bikey!!! I guess the thought of you will keep him moving along briskly!

So will Snod be over in September? He should be taking you for a weekend away after all that. Well provide some beer!! Happy Birthday to Birthday Boy.

I'm off to Germany next Saturday, it has been booked for a while now and it wipes me out of both money and available time off, so another week away can't be done Sad

And the sheep are kept away in fields down here, it's so much safer! Less gravel too somehow. And if a K ploughed into the back of the 250 the Honda would be dead, pretty sure about that.. The frame would be all bent up out of shape, at a guess. Not worth thinking about :pale:

Not sure I agree with battery sheep. Now I suppose we are in for a shed load of sheep jokes.

Since you are headed for Germany remember it can be cold so bring a woolly jumper.

I cell graze my sheep with portable electric net fencing. Move them either daily or a few times a week, depending on pasture quality, weather, stocking density etc

Pasture not only recovers quickly but comes back better then it was.

We follow the sheep with pasture grazing chickens who eat any insect pests breeding in the manure, and also distrubute said manure a bit, and scratch up the ground litter etc. Plus they bring a wide range of their own minerals and fertility to add to the soil.

All about balance and timing. Just like 'nature' as it were.

My aunt used to have pet sheep when we were growing up, we used to ride them round the field! We never farmed them but Dad was a pig farmer before the foot and mouth. One of our fields used to back onto a graveyard and the cows used to escape into it and eat the flowers! I used to have a pet duck I had raised from an egg, he was really tame and one day Dad said the Fox had eaten him. I was gutted. On my 18th he told me that we had actually eaten him Sad parents can be so mean!

I used to have a pet duck I had raised from an egg, he was really tame and one day Dad said the Fox had eaten him. I was gutted. On my 18th he told me that we had actually eaten him Sad parents can be so mean!

My kid brother died when I was 2 and a half. My parents told me. You were lucky it was only a duck.

Did you take the duck for walkies?

I've just seen the post but can't see the pics of your damage. My heart sank as I read it and always does for any fellow rider but machinery is repairable and replaceable. Be patient on eBay before you decide to go naked yo can get the panels slowly at the right price. you can ride without the lowers (but your knees get wet in the rain).

Good luck with it.

W are going to try and fibreglass the fairing at some point, its not a massive crack, wont look perfect but as long as it is functional its fine!

Ive used a £10 glass fibre kit from Halfords with great sucess.
As you are putting the repair on the inside of the panel, it don't have to be pretty!
Just take your time, follow the instructions and you will end up with a strong repair.
The fairing panels are heavy and repair well.

I'd like to add something to what ComberJohn has said about repairing cracks in glassfibre. I see the crack has gone through to the outside; normally people either shy away from fixing them or make a real hash of it. If you've reinforced the inside successfully this should be easy.

1. Sand the damaged area flat (or as flat as possible) to get rid of all of the odd ends of broken fibres
2. Take a Dremel (or similar) with a ball-ended tool in it and carefully channel along the crack
3. Use a fine-grain glassfibre filler to fill the channels
4. Sand flat using a piece of 600 grade wet'n'dry
5. Use the MkI fingertip to check for ridges - most times there won't be any. Rpt 3 & 4 if necessary
6. Paint.

LFB's fairing is full of unpainted filled channels. It looks absolutely horrendous but you can't feel the difference between them and the original glassfibre.

Thanks for the advice! My only worry is even if i get the right colour paint it wont match because he does spend a lot of time outdoors  and it has probably faded. Dont really fancy repainting it all....or maybe custom design? Would do if i was artistic but i am really not!

Ha ha Razz I think its much safer if i learn to take evasive action rather than stopping! And i need to remember that someone may choose to follow me on overtakes! We have kinda drawn a line under the whole thing now, could have been a lot worse and we have learnt from it without getting to seriously hurt so all is good! Bikey would have loved to go to germany again though Sad me too!!!

First of all I hope Bikey will be restored to old glory and accompany you for many more years

Then I have my own little crash aftermath, had my first minor accident on the bike, something went wrong with my throttle, it was kind of stuck and stupid me twisted a little harder, bike jumped forward and I pulled the front brake, wheel slipped and I found myself lying in the street, luckily this happened at rather low speed and I'm absolutely fine.

Went to the bike today to examine the damage

front right Indicator, headlight glass, right mirror glass, footrest mount plate and right footrest are gone, right pannier box damaged and right crashbar is gone

Thinking of Bikey I got away cheap here and I'd say the crash bar did a great job preventing more damage

Crash aftermath.... - Page 3 Dfac674ad6e4a485db851837c6c0a45b_zpsa8a3c532

After the crash I could ride home, bike started up with no trouble, the idiot warning light stayed on on after pulling front and rear brake and it was a bit strange to ride home without a footrest, but it was only 3 km.

When I got to the bike today it would not start up, when I turn the key the head and tail light came on and indicators work (minus the front right one)

But all the lights in the cockpit stayed off ( battery and oil ) and it pushing the ignition would not do anything, so I'm not sure what's wrong there.

Looking at parts on motorworks now, replacing the hardwear should not be to tricky, hope the starter issue will be ok as well.

The green/black wire hanging near the brake pedal may have touched earth and blown a fuse which would prevent the starter working.

Good one rick
Fuse #1 (7.5 amps) must be blown and the instrument pod is not getting any power.

Ok, that makes sense and a blown fuse should not be too hard to replace, I'll put it on the things to purchase list

Sagi - where you are, don't bother with Motorworks or anyone in the UK unless you have to. Give John Tilley a ring up in Tullamore, Offaly - 087 240 7760 - as he's likely to have all the parts you need. I guess this applies to anyone down south and in range.

you don't carry spare fuses ?

the little box under the seat is an ideal place for this , and a press seal bag helps keep them clean and in tact ...get several of the 3 or four types  7.5 10 and that little one ...forgot right now 5?
