Hi all, am wondering if anyone knows where I can get the Karamba speedo calibration software? The recommended site is down, and the software cannot be downloaded from there. Does anyone know of an alternate download site, or maybe have a copy they can let me use. Thanks

First, you will need to have made three posts on the forum, then send a PM to Crazy Frog, the creator and administrator, to obtain the password to the downloads section. It's designed this way to prevent 'just anyone' from accessing our hoard if they're not a bonafide member. Also, it is advised not to post direct links to any download in the forum.
Welcome, and good luck with your mighty K.

Thanks Two Wheels Better for your reply to my query. See you from oz too. Yeah am missing my rides, but not going to chance riding without the speedo working, I live just north of Sydney where there are too many highway patrol vehicles getting around. Good luck with your trip to the states.

Ta. But it's been nearly three years now and except for a five week trip in '13 and a three week trip in '14 back home to OZ I've been living stateside steadily since. Pretty soon I'll be rolling my Rrrrr's and saying gas when I mean petrol! I did watch the Superbowels back in February.

Ok, sorry Two Wheels, I didn't realise you were working and living in the US of A. I just thought you were on a bike riding holiday around the country, which u probably wish u were doing. I wouldn't mind if I was, but I'm stuck in oz, which is really ok by me. Very Happy

I downloaded my copy (.exe).
I also already had the .zip file that I downloaded directly from Karumba several years ago. It also contains a virus.
Unfortunately, Norton 360 finds the software has a virus (WS.Reputation.1) and automatically deletes it.
Has anyone got a virus free copy of the software.
Also, I found (the hard way after I had already made the wiring loom) that the K1100 has round pins on the speedo connector plug, as opposed to flat pins on the K100.
Which is a PITA as I don't have any female round connectors here at home (and it's the Easter long weekend).
I can go back to Jaycar tomorrow morning, but it's a moot point without virus free software.

I couldn't see the software in the downloads section (I found the password - which I had forgotten).

WS.Reputation.1 is not a virus!

It is simply a way of Symantec to tell users that Norton 360 has never seen this file before.

WS.Reputation.1 is a detection for files that have a low reputation score based on analyzing data from Symantec’s community of users and therefore are likely to be security risks. Detections of this type are based on Symantec’s reputation-based security technology. Because this detection is based on a reputation score, it does not represent a specific class of threat like adware or spyware, but instead applies to all threat categories

The reputation-based system uses "the wisdom of crowds" (Symantec’s tens of millions of end users) connected to cloud-based intelligence to compute a reputation score for an application, and in the process identify malicious software in an entirely new way beyond traditional signatures and behavior-based detection techniques.

I was under the impression that Norton 360 was an antivirus software scanning files for specific virus signatures but obviously if it doesn't know a file it classify it as suspicious. I would grade Norton 360 as WS.Reputation.1

Pegasus I downloaded the software on a spare computer with Nortons on it, I turned off Nortons, but didn't end up with any viruses or problems. With the round pins in the connector, I could only get flat 1/8" connectors, which I just manipulated with a fine screwdriver to fit over the round pins, and it worked out fine. I could not get a reading with the Karamba software, so I think I have a problem with the speedo itself.

I sorted the Norton problem. For the round pins, I went back to Jaycar (as it was open 10-4 today) and bought a 4 female pin Molex kit (PS0742 Line Disk drive 5.25 in 4 Pin with pins).
I'm going to use the male Molex pins and mount spade connectors to them so I can also use the wiring loom on K100's.

Sometimes the output amp on the earphone plug isn't strong enough to make things work. I run mine through a set of speakers that have an amp and a headphone socket which makes for a strong signal.

I had to do the same with my laptop. Unfortunately, one of the speakers slid off the panniers and no longer works. Oh well, one step forward, two steps backward!
With Karamba running, my speed was spot on at 100 and 180. it was only when I selected 240 (for the hell of it) that the speedo showed about 245.
Which raises a conundrum. My GPS shows 100 and the speedo shows about 105. Is this tyre wear or a tyre that is slightly smaller (running a 160/60/18 Michelin Pilot Road 2 93 K1100RS).
Or could it be that the sensor in the final drive is slow / faulty?

probably just the profile of the tyre

to me the 140 - 80 profile shows similar

the 130 -90 is the standard ..

you should be able to change the settings in the software to reflect the tyre profile difference ?

I successfully ran the Karamba software on a laptop with Linux operating system using Wine (you can't drink this one) and there is a version of Wine for the Mac so it may work for you.

Have a read of this site

Cheers

At least in the US, all K bike speedos tend to run about 10% fast from the factory.

It can' be adjusted though:

I have a copy of it here:

http://www.kbikeparts.com/classickbikes.com/ckb.tech/0.ckb.tech.files/speedocal/Karamba.zip

I also have an Excel spreadsheet that calculates the frequency required based on tire size and speed that you can use with tone generating software.
