Cool Big hello to everyone, bought my 87 k100rs [style] today. First impressions are its a bit weird but i will persevere. My last beemer was a gs 1150 so this is a whole new ball game, i will be asking loads of really stupid questions over the coming months so be patient. I live in a place called Aghadowey near Coleraine so if if any members are local give me a shout. I would love to go out on a few rides this spring so don't be shy. I hope to marshal at the Scarborough spring meeting and as usual will be marshaling at the manx so this should be the ideal tool for the miles. Wink

Thanks for all the welcome messages, Dai that looks very informative and i will study that. Ringfad, that picture was taken about a mile from my house, your bike is identical to mine apart from my wheels appear to have been powder coated black and don't have the spoke edges highlighted and i don't have the top-box. Really looking forward to cleaning and giving it a good going over in the next few days.

Hi there 59viper, welkome aboard. There's a great bunch of K riders in Ireland (the whole of it) and I've been privileged to meet a few in person.

Down here in Oz we really enjoy the get togethers, of which you will read about as the year progresses. Enjoy the K and the kompany.

Cheers

59Viper welcome too and hope we get to meet up with you.

A few meet ups during the year and you would be most welcome. Dai comes along when he can and also Comberjohn.

88 and myself booked into the ABR Rally at Draperstown 18th May, camping option for us.

We might manage to get the Norn Iron trip back on track this year but 88 and myself plan on being in France in September so we would be very weather dependent if its later.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions, everyone is very helpful.

Very Happy Thank you. What may i ask is the ABR rally ? sounds like a plan, and i always take the camping option especially on the Isle of Man.

There is another forum, www.adventurebikerider.com and they have a rally in Northern Ireland every year. There is a very active group and they have a love of the Mournes in particular which was my grandfather's home place, very close to Dai and Comberjohn. I signed 88 [Will] up to it as I owe him a weekend treat but its a good camping option. Some of the guys go for offroading so they will have a road ride out on Saturday for those who want it. I have tried to go a few years but it has clashed with our trips to France.

http://www.adventurebikerider.com/forum/139-abr-ireland-rally-may-19th-21st-2017/543495-abr-ireland-may-2017-sign-up-thread.html

Camping is £5 per person per night so no arguing with that. Bar food Friday night is a good bet, Saturday night there is a buffet meal at £10 which sounds good. Breakfast Saturday is factored in the ride out and we like a proper breakfast. Sunday I suspect we will cook our own.

Heff, Flintlock and Moorso have some fabulous travel threads on that forum.

Greetings 59Viper.

My first brick (back in '89) was an '87 style. Of all my bikes I've had I regret selling that the most. I bonded with it by putting plenty of miles on it, in fact I really think I learnt to ride on that bike. Maybe we just got together at a great time in my life.

My present (and 4th) K is a '90 16v. I had to spray it black to get it 'nearer' to my first  Razz

Anyway, give us a shout when you're over for the Manx  bounce

All the best

Bonz

Hi 59Viper,

the K sure feels like a different bike at first, if only for the sound alone. I remember being unsure if I had done the right thing when I got my first one (the gold LT in pics above).  a couple of hundred limes later, having gained confidence withe the weight and balance of the thing I was hooked. Enjoy the forum and I hope we'll see you on one of our runs this year.

Remember help is only ever a few clicks away!
