A 92 K75S I brought back to life in the spring had a Staintune exhaust.  No dents or scrapes but the finish wasn't great. (But it had a great "patina.")  Since I didn't have an extra barrel of elbow grease on hand I decided to have it ceramic coated in black instead - which includes a good media blast prior to coating.

Before:

Mmmmmm . . . ceramic coating Tbg6VZ6

After - installed on my 91 K75S:

Mmmmmm . . . ceramic coating FcT8YOM

The way the paint wears off of the leading edge of the peg plates bothers me so I also had a pair of peg plates ceramic coated and mounted them with black bolts.  And, just for kicks, also has a brake level coated black.

I forgot to mention that I also had a set of headers coated in black to match since the factory headers got blued and ugly a few hundred miles from the showroom floor.

That looks bad arse!

What is your experience/opinion with the durability of ceramic coating on headers and mufflers?

It's great.  It's much better than powder coating or high temp paint. Tougher and more heat resistant.

I've also had headers, engine covers and other parts done in a ceramic coating called Chromex.  Not as smooth as real chrome but still nice and shiny. (And won't rust like chrome can when it gets old.)

Looks great Duck.  You have definitely worked out your own pattern for detailing your K's - very identifiable!  What windshield is that and and how well does it work?

Thanks. It's a National Cycle N25030.  It works pretty well. I like the look of naked bikes but not the chest blast of wind when riding them.

I guess now you have the 1600 you don't mind parking the 75 to fix it up some more, it's looking good!
Funny I never have trouble with chest blast, just keeping tread on the center of my tires (:

Thanks Duck for the info on the windshield. I looked it up here in Canada and it is stocked by my favourite Canadian retailer.

Off the ceramic coatings topic, but have you a link or more accurate part number for the windscreen? National Cycle N20530 doesn't work, and N2530 is a small flyscreen. Maybe it's the N25030...check these links. I reckon this size 'screen would work 'real swell' on my R100 Mystic.
