I picked this up last Sunday. Runs well and appears in good nick overall. Plans are to thoroughly service it and put it into service as a daily rider.

The only thing I dont like are the narrow handlebars so these will have to change - probably to standard C bars.

If someone has a 75C or RT they are converting to a Cafe Racer and wants to swap the bars, cables and switchgear let me know, a deal could be struck.

Lift the tank and check the cables on the handlebar switches. You may find that there's an extra length of cable folded back and taped up - I've seen this twice now (on a naked and an RS) and can only assume that BMW built handlebar switches to cover the RT as well. That might save some grief. Naked bars should fit without having to worry about the control cables.

You are probably right. I'll check it out.

Are you sure they are not C bars already fitted?  I say this because I don't think you can fit the four switch dash pad to the S/RS bars which are shorter than the standard C bars.  From memory the four switch dash pad is standard for the C.  You may wish to fit RT bars if that is the case.

Did the previous owner work at Wackers in Brisbane?

The bars are VERY short so whatever they are they are too narrow for my liking. And yes the previous owner worked for Wackers (Andrew).

That is correct. The RS has the extra length on all the handlebar wiring and switches looped up under the tank. No difference between RT/LT and RS on those. I have Ks with both and you can unloop the extra length if you need it. Throttle cables are in multiple lengths depending on the exact model. Clutch cable is either long for RT/LT or short for RS. Front brake pipe from master cylinder differs. I think choke cable differs too but I never use it. I just fire up and go. Its only a throttle advance anyway so its the same thing to just give it a bit of gas.

It now has RT bars, a bit of tidying up, and an oil change. I have a seat cover, speedo sensor and a few other bits coming from Motobins so it should be back on the road in the near future.
