This section is looking sad and empty so picking up on the subject of a Scottish meet...

Who would be interested and available for a meet Sat 28th April?

How about meeting up on the great roads and scenery of the west coast? Ullapool or thereabouts. Meet on the Sat pm, get some food and beers and camp/hotel/B&B the Sat night; go our separate ways Sunday.

Loads of great roads and routes around and we should be there before the midges descend. Very Happy

Any takers?
Best
Dave

Lets try to revive....

There's a BMW club meet in Spittal of Glenshee Hotel tomorrow, why don't we try to meet/join there as well? Its a nice central location, beautiful trips to get there from any direction and the weather is supposed to be OK...

I'll try to be there at 12.30/13.00 and hope to see some of you. Shocked I know, careful what you wish for Very Happy

Did you make it Rene? Too short notice for me mate.

What are the chances of a Scottish meet before you relocate?

Big D - anyone else?

How about Friday 23 Nov weather permitting - somewhere central - open to suggestions

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave, yes I did and met some other BMW bikers from your area, nice chaps!

I'm up for a meet, but will be in Hull 23rd. If we do anything it'll need to be over the weekend for me.

The hotel in Glenshee is very accommodating and central, but I'm happy with any other alternative. Don't mind the distance if we're overnighting. Alternative is Dunkeld or around there? Could come up to Aviemore or more Aberdeen area - open to suggestions, but would like to see it happen!!

Nice one Rene, let's make it happen mate, meet up on the Saturday.

I'm cool with any of those destinations. It's so depends on the weather; higher ground more likely to have ice? Aviemore sounds good. I don't know any accomodation there but will look in to it; if folk want to turn up and not stay that would work too.

Cheers
Dave

I had a great trip up, past Balloch, Braeval, Callander, Lochearnhead, Crieff, Aberfeldy to Pitlochry. Took me about 3 hours, but very beautiful, particular with the low sun in the hills. Coming over the hill after Aberfeldy you could see the whole area around Pitlochry covered in fog, great sight (sh*te temperature in there though!). Got caught out on the way back in wintery showers, but quite frankly it was worth it. With waterproof clothing sitting behind the RT screen it was still enjoyeable, except for some blind motorists falling asleep in the fast lane.....

Great trip and a good meet with Dave (MT350), so well worth it.

Cheers, Rene.

Bracing! A cold, damp run out with wet, muddy and greasy roads some fog and 3 or 4 degrees celsius. I was eyeing Rene's heated grips with envy! The journey back much better, sun came out and the roads had dried so got a bit of momentum going on some good roads with the sun behind me.

Photos to follow

Good to meet you Rene - I'm glad we made the effort!

Looks as though you had a wonderful time....irrespective of the coolish weather. Great to see Ks having an outing. Now we (as in world wide) should look at early September next year for a "real " world meet to celebrate the 30 years.

30 years, yes food for thought mate.
Thanks Paul - I forgot my shades and wished I hadn't - more for the low sun though!
No fish worth having in the creeks mate - maybe a few the size of your big toe. Salmon in the rivers but you'll pay dearly for a days fishing - lots of brown trout in the lochs that are fair game although mostly pretty small.
Cheers
Dave

Nice meet-up, lads and cracking photos too. Even on damp roads it's a nice ride up through the Trossachs and across rural Perthshire towards Cairngorm country. Great, narrow roads and fantastic wild scenery - sometimes its hard to concentrate on the road when you're surrounded with such great countryside.

Dave, I know what you mean about that pesky low winter sun of ours - it's murder without shades! Coincidentally, my grandson was playing about with my Schuberth Concept helmet the other day and he pulled on a side lever only to discover to his delight that a blue eye shade popped down out of the helmet! It's been a while since I've had that helmet on and I'd forgotten all about the eye shade!

Nae luck with the wintry showers on the road home, Rene. We had quite a few heavy hail showers yesterday afternoon, but that big sail of a fairing would have kept the worst off you - I have a tall screen on my RT, so only the top of my head gets buffeted..

Maybe once I get the old girl back on the road, I'll make a Meet or two.

Great idea mate, you'd be more than welcome.

Yeah rene has a nice Schuberth with a flip down shade, very useful. I've a tinted pinlock but didn't have it with me, had the clear one in (of course!).

Cheers

It was good fun getting to the first 'Scottish Forum Meet' Very Happy with indeed beautiful country views, I'll miss that in Florida!
Even though I had some weather thrown at me on the way back the bike with its fairing and some proper kit makes it still quite bearable, particular with the grip heating Twisted Evil
Great fun and I hope we get another one in before I leave end of January and/or have sold the bike. Not looking forward to the last bit, but can't avoid it.

Well I'm sure you'll both agree it's something very enjoyable to meet a person you've only known through the forum and exchange and share stories and experiences in person. LOL 88 - yeah too much coffee and a cold wind is a bad combination! Pretty barren landscape really but the ample proportions of the 'K' provide a decent bit of 'cover'!

Just a shame (for me!) Rene is off to Florida just as the embyo of a group was getting started. Still, who knows what the future holds?

I'm planning a weeks tour this summer; not sure where - maybe Spain, maybe England. Looking forward a lot to this - maybe others would be up for it? Subject of another post...
