I have a 85 k100 I just bought a 91 k100 when I turn the key on on the 91 I hear the fuel pump run on the 85 when I turn the key on I don't hear it run however it starts and runs fine (alittle harder starting than the 91) question is are they different systems or should I hear the pump on the 85 if so any ideas what might be wrong thanks

On my 86K100rs the pump kicks in when the starter button is presses. I know that because I have a fuel pressure gauge between the tank and the fuel rail.
BTW the pressure builds up to 36psi within a second or two.

On a Jetronic euqipped bike (2V) the fuel pump builds up the pressure when you
hit the starter button.

On a Motronic euqipped bike (4V) the fuel pump builds up the pressure when the
ignition is switched on.

They are completely different fuel pumps too, though you can backfit the later pump to the earlier bike and have done so on one of my K100s.
