Hi, I bought a new in tank fuel pump for my 1990 k100 off eBay for about £50 it's been in it probably about 2 years but only about 2k miles. Just wondering if other people have experience with non bmw fuel pumps is how long they got out of them ect. Mine appears fine but gets really noisy after about 40minutes or in traffic when the bike gets hot,
Is this a sign it's on its way out?

My K75 had a Delphi skinny little pump with soldered connections in it when I acquired it from a wrecker for not much. I got it on the road early in 2014 and have done 53,000km on it since then - still with the same fuel pump.

I bought an OEM Chinese copy off Aliexpress from a company called Global Direct. It's been fine for the last twelve months, I do carry a spare OEM pump. I used a nippon denso ..out of a Toyota corolla   ...but 51mm diameter

that was 8 years ago and likely 100,000 ks ago by now ...odo stopped  so ?

but I dont think it has the ball valve to stop pressure leakage back through the pump like the Bosch unit

so  2 taps of the start button   with a slight pause between is required ….but almost always starts  second push

the same car I got it out of is in my garage ….with 520,000 ks on it ...so I have to say ...it should last a while yet ...as long as rubber defragmentation on the fuel lines doesn't occur … which was the likely cause of the original bmw bosch unit failure

the bosh units are a roller cell type pump ...this type does not work well with almost any particulate matter ...larger than the filter - sock will allow to get past ...often the  prefilter cage - sock will drop allowing gunk to pass ...disastrous in a non refurbished system

just food for thought ...hope it helps
