Robin was there but on a R bike so not in the count, gotta have some rules, eh?

He was a K guy tho as evidenced by his resto posts.

Like Canberra Dave at Araluen who had to ride his R, still drops in and always contributing,

On Ya Dave! Your bike is center stage in all the Araluen pics, but then, clearly, a Magnificent 11 in a row,

Average 25 yo bikes thousands of Kms from home.... and they ALL got HOME. Not really amazing in this age

where we all know of Excellent bikes from other brands but are they out there? I don't think so...

Meanwhile, these K's keep munching the miles, just what they were designed to do.

No official claims have been made but I have a gut feeling that they have outdone us

So make a big effort boys, to at least beat our own record, 'cos as you Know..

I won't be there.

Far Kairn. Best I have got. I can positively count 12 here and Al had his chair, not shown, so 13 with quite a few others not there for various reasons. Feel free to up the count if you are not pictured or Know of the others.

I was there as well - so that makes 14! I will also be coming to Guyra (fingers crossed).

Ok it's time to sharpen the chainsaw, and clean the bbq as this ride is only about 4 weeks away.
So though we should put a list together of those that that will be coming,  so we can organise flour and cream for skones!
So all are welcome, and if you think that you'll be here copy the list and past your name on it.

as I read it

The ride dates are the weekend of the 22/23  of November, there will be camping available at our farm ( Riverdale) on Saturday & Sunday. I'll get some wood together for a bonfire and BBQ on the Saturday night, then we'll have a full days ride on the Sunday

hope we are all on the same page

New job, no leave.

Fingers crossed heading up early Saturday morn.
Leave Sunday morning.
I will miss the big ride, but meh. I get a ride and a night on the lower forty

Just thinking, can follow the mob down to the coast and then keep going.

What a plan.

What a mind.

I amaze myself sometimes

Yeah that was the original plan rosskko, we'll still go that way then out to the Golden Dog at Glenreagh for lunch, or maybe the Ulong RSL club. Need to make some phone calls to confirm numbers on the day.

Also when I workout how to copy and past a Google map for directions to Riverdale I will.

smithy to copy and paste the map  heres what I do

with the map open  use alt and print screen at the same time

this will put the image into the buffer .

give it a try

usually I use paint to do any editing (use the paste with the paint program open ) if need  then save that file

would I be best to go up the Oxley to Guyra on Saturday, and down Thunderbolts to Nabiac on Monday. Thunderbolts is not bad , but the Oxley has a reputation for its twisty bits . is it more challenging on the up hill from Port Mac ?

Thanks Charlie, I don't know how you did that , the best I could do was the link.
You can also take Falconer road, right next to the Caltex roadhouse on the hwy and follow about 20ks, as it runs into Wards Mistake rd.

I look forward to hearing a detailed account.

Grover, I've allways gone up thunderbolts and down the Oxley never the other way
I'd say its two of the best roads I've ridden on my old cx500 never on the BMW but I'm looking forward to it next year. The roads to kandos from the fair cairn were fun though

This sounds like a really excellent meet up. And a big heads up to Smithy for making such a nice venue available. I think if I was with more time and spare dosh a surprise trip and arrival on a K at the meet up would be in order. Camping and bbq is right up my street.

As for the number of Ks, although we get some good meet ups we naturally are open to anyone like minded coming along so not everyone has a K. We had a good turnout at Norn Iron in September but not everyone was on a K. I think we have got to 11 at the one time but haven't kept a record, too busy having a good time.

Seems like you guys have the record....for now.

A little competition going here now for the most Ks in the one place because we have suddenly got a few new members over here, Reg Dai and Eugene and looks like they will be out more. Another in Tipperary found us last night....

How about we get the banner back to you for the November meet? Air mail doesn't take long. Per instructions it will be returned in the same tube it was sent in. We used a plastic architects drawing tube to protect it on its travels while the travelling tube nestled safely.

Seani, if I can make it and you're on the Triumph, I'll be glad to see you and have a close look at that outfit. The day I saw you in Newie we didn't have time for me to have a close look at it but at a quick glance it certainly looked the goods. I'll be interested in having a yarn about your trip across to the west.

However, I would like to stress, that this event has priority.  A ride through the Northern Tablelands 2014 - Page 2 112350  After all, we cannot let the Irish beat us on numbers!

Can't commit at this stage, but hoping to join, perhaps travel in company.

Google maps saying 9.5 hours for the Sunday ride makes me wonder whether my physical endurance is up to it, though.  Question

Hi Smithy. Not trying to interfer but this map may reflect the Sunday ride more accurately with the start and finish at Wards Mistake Rd (if that's what you're after?) and shows correct klms, duration and directions. That's a big ride considering the type of country around that area plus figuring in breaks... a big day.
I'd be up for it but won't be possible this year. I'll definately make a show next year tho.
Cheers

Hey thanks Kaptain, yes it is a full day's ride but don't pay to much attention to how long it takes on Google maps, as Google lies. We did about the 500 klms last year with plenty of time for breaks and still back in Guyra in time for a BBQ. And we had tornadoes to contend with.

Don't have a problem with the endurance of the bike. This rider is a different question again . . .

Bill

Hey Bill,  I do a similar ride to this about 4 times a year and can tell you that it isn't 9 1/2 hours ride time. Yes it's a full day with breaks ect: But very relaxing ride.

Hi Smithy,
Still not sure of my circumstances, but I'll take your word for it, and try to get up there.

Thanks for the reassurance,

Bill

I've always found Google maps to be fairly accurate. That route is 517klm. On a bike you can always shave around 10 to 15% off Google times so that will bring the time down from 8h:50m to 7½ to 8 hrs approx. A big day but very do-able. Enjoy. Very Happy

Hey Kaptain, I couldn't give a shit what Google maps say, I've lived at Nana Glen for 18 years and now at Guyra for the past 8 years, my family still live in Nana Glen and I travel these roads more than most and can tell you that it only take 2 1/2 hours ride time with no stops from my driveway at Wards Mistake To Nana Glen regardless what the maps say.

I'm hopeless with using these Google maps Charlie, yeah we'll be going down the hill via Nymboida and back up via the Waterfall way Dorrigo. The difference this year is we'll be having lunch at Ulong which is a scenic 10 minute ride up the hill from Coramba.

Ok I say again this is a full day ride, not a latté ride! if you only want a ride to the corner coffee shop and back this ride may not be for you. Kaptain you seem concerned about the time and ks of this ride but your not coming! Hmmm I can assure you we'll be back in Guyra in plenty of time to fire up the BBq and knock down a few ales.

On our Norn Iron trip Comberjohn took us for a full day on the Saturday, then Ringfad and myself did a little diversion around to Ardglass and his parents house. Ended up 11 hours for Ringfad and myself from start to back for dinner. I think the others were about 9 1/2 hours. But that included a ferry trip, stops for photos, coffee, lunch etc and although the day was long we really got the best of a sunny day and had a great evening after. Felt very relaxed after it as the riding pace was comfortable for us. What is a comfortable speed is really determined by the roads and where you are. Our distance for the day was about 240 miles of very scenic routes. I don't think anyone felt it was too long or overdone, just that we packed a heck of a lot into it.

Mate! Not at all concerned. Just trying to confirm what you said, that it wouldn't take the 9½hrs as your original map quoted but I certainly would have no concerns about taking a run like that... just can't this year.
OK I'll stay out of it now. Enjoy the run. See you all next year.
