I went for a ride to a mates house about 150 miles north of here last summer. As per normal I was wearing shorts and sandals. On the way up there I got a bit too much sun on my right leg, you can never feel the redness while your moving. I set off later in the afternoon to come home, and guess what, the sun had moved around to the other side so that instead of getting my left leg to match the redness of the right leg, the right leg got even redder!
I wore jeans for the rest of my summer rides, not for protection, but because I looked stupid with one brown and one white leg. What a Face

I always thought the left leg should be red. . . . .. You must have been suffering from disorientation!

I once came off a bicycle wearing sandals. I can still feel the pain and the torn skin and what looked like a shredded little toe. Years later in a different accident I was toid I had broken some small bones at the time. I hate to think what a K would do.

Hopefully you will make it. The camping up at Tollymore is lovely and very reasonable. Excellent showers too and a view of the Mournes that has to be seen.

Should be a few of us up from Cork too......

Cork is where Queen Elizabeth buys her fish. None of the Sellafield stuff....

So far this year I think Comberjohn, Cluain Si, Ringfad, Sgmayhew, 88KE and myself have been out of the country. Apologies to anyone I omitted. Sgmayhew was in............Manchester!!

I may have to take my daughter to Antwerp in early September which means I cant look at a trip to England for now but a trip to Wales has been discussed......probably Holyhead rather than Liverpool though.

Wales would be good, they do speak a strange language though (even when speaking english i tend to just go with the smile and nod, they always sound friendly at least!) and it does rain a lot! Or you could come up a bit and do the lake district (or west yorkshire dales, which is my playground!)

Ha the Lake District. I went to do that years ago on one of my trips, turned inland at Conwy and never managed to get there. Next time I seemed to get stuck in Somerset.

Have to go off peak or too many tourists, West yorkshire dales is stunning and only really valued by bikers so never too much traffic and loads of bike friendly pubs!

have been watching griff rhys jones in one of his series "a welsh adventure " or some name similar out here lately which show similar images , but its good to get a k bike riders perspective

for a lot of us aussies , we dont get to see that depth of green verry often, it always amazes me .
i have seen similar country side in new zealand ,. so i guess im lucky ...might be as close as i get to the dales and wales i guess

There are a few really beautiful places near me, one you can see all of the lancashire coastline, across to Heyshem and occasionally the lakes, one of my favouirte roads follows the path of a river, crossing it occasionally and theres a point where you can stop by the side of these two waterfalls (only little but still perfect on a hot day!), for me the west yorkshire dales is a lot more enjoyable than the lake district because there are none of the bloody tourists!

Do like the look of Austrialia or New Zealand, my nanna and Grandad lived over there for a while and absolutely loved it, need to wait till they invent factor 1000 sun tan lotion though....

No kangaroos here but we do seem to have a lot of sheep with death wishes! Also occasionally cows, absolutely terrifying getting low round a corner and finding a cow stood there!
