Its only a 500kg unit with a lift of 25kg on the drawbar. I have used one for around 2 years on my camper and have been selling them for about 6 months, they are very good. My K100 rides better with the trailer and that than it does by itself.

Holy shite, Col, that's almost iambic pentameter, and I'll bet you didn't even mean it that way. See, sometimes it's best to leave out the punctuation entirely. In the immortal words of one of my favourite musos (even though he's not dead yet), Paul Kelly, "maybe I could wrap it up in plastic and call it art".

crikey col ...it is a small world ...i used to head on down to brooklyn pub back in the old days of bonafide travellers having to travel at least 30 ks to get a drink on sundays ..... plus the road down to the moonee moonee bridge on the old road before they closed it (or did they ) ...i also lived in hornsby in the 70's one road back from the bowling alley on the bypass ...but beecroft- west pennant hills area before that.

would love to ride the old road again mt colah to kariong was always awesome

lol @ enterprise ......like our mate "og's " 'bismark'

scot me up beeemy ...!!!

i'd love to do that road again on european muscle. woohoo !!!

its a bit like the "nebo- glorious" run ....but way better, from memory, lots of closing radius corners ...a drag section (frequented by many blue lights apparently -according to some other forums) great hill climbs and more.

remember doing several cool down s at the old shell station on the old road at mount white (closed 35 years ago i think)

and waiting in a cue 30 ks long on holday escapes ....giggle..... it was always a challenge to do newcastle in 2.5 hours ...oh to be young and dumb...

the old road is always fun to ride no matter what your riding the only difference is the bigger the bike the faster you go down the straights but some of the corners can catch if not careful

Yeah it works properly for a bike.

It has a full 360deg swivel and a universal type joint as well.

I am also working on a coupling for override brakes which is prooving to be very time consuming. I was hoping to have it on the market now but it's going to be a few months away yet as I haven't even started the cyclic testing and that takes a few weeks to do.

I will put you on the to be advised list Col.

Not too sure about that hitch, I don't believe that a universal joint like that is designed for that type of load. It wouldn't fall apart but the rollers would wear quickly as they are not designed to have a longitudal load. They are meant to transfer power through a change of angle of a spinning shaft. I reckon he will get trouble down the road.

I have worked in the trailer industry for 28 years and am a qualified fitter.

The manfacturers (Dexter Corp) of the 7" electric brakes told me in an email about 15 months ago that they do not advise that they are used on motorcycle trailers.

Apparently because the brakes work independently of each other (they have a seperate electric circuit) they can and have caused some accidents by pulling a bike over when negotiating a corner. One wheel works harder than the other and if it is the inside wheel you go over.

I know of some in Australia who fit them against the manufacturers advice but as Dexter said they will wear the costs of a law suit when it happens.

From the point of view of a trailer manufacturer they are good gear (quick to fit, economical and dont give much trouble in the warranty period) but electric brakes are high maintenence and need to be replaced far more often than hydraulic discs. I have had electric brakes on several caravans and consider that they aren't even worth their weight in poop. But they are cheap.

I have been working on some disc brakes to go with the override coupling but they are a long way of. Elite sell disc kits but like anything Steve sells it's expensive and the quality leaves a bit to be desired.

I could go on for hours.

If you will be at Araluen I will try to put one in the bags.

As a matter of interest, I booked a double room for Saturday night, but now the child bride cannot make it, so if any of you partnered geezers wants to
have the honeymoon suite, feel free to swap.
If Ulrich or Col are reading, whats the travel plans afterwards, I feel like scabbing an extra day or two.
And by the way, don't go anywhere near Brooklyn, your bike will boil. This I know.

There's about 20 ks of dirt road between Braidwood and Nerriga. I drove it and it was just awful, but Ulrichmeister rode it and was happy. The road down from Nerriga to the coast is brand new and quick, but the run up the coast from there is just friggin horrible. Lots of single lanes, trucks and grannies (apologies to grannies, I sleep with one). You could cut back up through Berri and Kangaroo Valley to the centre of the Universe (where I live of course) but time might beat you.

Canberra Dave, if I leave my double breasted suit and Fedora at home, I can fit your piece in, and a fan engine for Oldbean perhaps. A swap meet is what this really is.

Col, Bob et al...

As mentioned before, we are leaving Denman on Sat AM, going via Bathurst etc. We could (should) meet at Oberon, which is on our route, but a bit out of the way for Bob.

Charlie, I have accommodation booked at the Royal on Friday night, with my bro and his missus. It might be worth a call to see if there are any more vacancies there. There are two pubs in Denman, the Royal and another one.

I need to be back at Maitland by Monday evening, ready for a major piss-up/golf for Melbourne Cup day. The return route for me is up in the air, Putty road sounds good, but may be busy on Sunday. This can all be discussed at the serenity of the Araluen pub.

Bring it on!!

Hi Rick,
Oberon suits me as I'm too close to Araluen to warrant a few days off from the coal miners daughter. So I may be staying at Oberon on Friday night (what to do at Oberon on a Friday night), just waiting to see what Col is up to cause I could go a bit further and upmarket, mmmmm Lithgow maybe. I'm also prob going to take Monday/Tuesday off and run with the wolves. K-Freak is going to Young, I might head out that way.
Got the Sports Demon front sandpapered and run in this morning. Feels really comfortable in corners, set at 32 pounds so might have to increase that a bit.
Do you still have the same front tyre on?
Cheers RT
